On Joomla:

SEF segments are there to control the search engine friendly URLs to your product pages and configurator pages. A typical URL to a configurator page looks like this:

www.example.com/product-listing/product-segment/page-segment

Let's look at the individual parts of that URL:

You edit the product's SEF segment in the product edit screen in section Others. The page's SEF segment you find on the page's edit screen in section Display.

On Wordpress:

On Wordpress we talk about permalinks. Link to products from product listings or next/prev links on configurator pages use a flat URL, so permalinks look like this:

www.example.com/productSegment-pageSegment/

You control productSegment on your product's edit screen in section Others. The pageSegment you control on the configurator page's edit screen in section Display.

Note: You can insert a configurator page with a short code in any of your posts and pages, but when the system generates a URL to a configurator page it will use the system URL. At this point we are still looking into an efficient way to search your posts and use the post's permalink instead.
